2024 Passport to Spring

Spring is around the corner! We would love to get you excited and inspired for your 2024 garden with great ideas and expert advice. The speakers we have secured are incredible! We will delight you with gifts and prizes. We will start the day with coffee and pastries and include a delicious catered box lunch to top off your morning.

Here’s the day’s schedule:

9:00-10:00 am Arrangements with Succulents with Sarah Lee

Overwhelmed while putting an arrangement together choosing succulents, potteries, soil while considering its growing conditions? Ever wondered why certain succulents thrived while others simply died in the same pot and care? Sarah will go over succulent care basics, pros and cons of different potteries, demonstrate composing an arrangement as well as selecting a perfect spot to showcase your newest succulent beauty. 

10:15-11:15 am Everything Edibles with Steve Hampson

Spring is just around the corner, and it is time to start getting ready for the upcoming growing season. Steve will talk about important things to do in your edible garden at this time of year, and will include topics such as choosing a location and preparing the soil for your vegetable garden; growing in containers; starting seeds; pruning, fertilizing, and controlling diseases and pests of fruit trees; and care of berry crops.

11:30am-12:30 pm Sunset Garden Collection with Janet Sluis

Low water gardens can still be lush and full of year-round color, providing a haven for you as well as the local birds and pollinators. Learn which varieties are especially well suited to our climate and how to use them to enhance your outdoor spaces. Janet will also cover helpful problem-solving care and maintenance tips from her test gardens, including containers, and showcase new breakthrough varieties.

12:30-1:00 pm – Enjoy delicious catered box lunch.

Lunch choices from Ofelia’s Kitchen:

  • Turkey Sandwich – Box lunch includes turkey sandwich, bag of chips and homemade chocolate chip cookie. Sandwiches include mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions, and sprouts.
  • Garden Salad with Chicken – Fresh mixed greens, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, sprouts and chicken with Italian Dressing. Box lunches includes slice of homemade bread and butter and a chocolate chip cookie.
  • Garden Salad (Vegetarian Option) – Fresh mixed greens, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado and sprouts dressed with Garlic Balsamic Vinaigrette. Box lunches includes slice of homemade bread and butter and a chocolate chip cookie.

The cost is $55 which includes catered box lunch and three classes. There is not a separate charge for each speaker; it is a package of all three and lunch.
