Saturday, February 17, 1:30 to 3 pm
Ruth is back to share with us another felted wool beauty! We will create a unique small landscape in colorful wool using the wet felting technique (so be prepared to get a little damp)! Suitable for framing- you will love how this comes out. A sample is displayed in the Garden Store. The cost is $30 plus tax. Please sign up with our cashiers by Wed. Feb 14th to reserve your spot. Prepayment is required.
Botanical Impressions Plaque
Saturday, March 17, 1:30 to 3:30 pm
This process involves pressing leaves, pods, grasses, and flowers into rolled out clay inside a wooden frame to form impressions, like a landscape. Once you are happy with the design, plaster is poured into it. When the plaster is dry, the wet clay is pulled away- and Viola! You have a lovely piece of art to display. You can paint it, do a subtle wash of color over it or leave it natural once you take it home and it is fully cured. The cost is $45.00 plus tax. A sample will be displayed in the Garden Store at the end of Feb. Please sign up with our cashiers by March 14 to reserve your space.
Saturday, April 21, 1:30-3pm
What FUN! We will start by painting a custom 5” terracotta pot (many design choices available) and we will move on to painting “cactus rocks” (many hues of green followed by easy details to make them look just like cactus). It is a great project-no painting skills required. A great way to add color and botanical whimsy to an office desk or a gift for a friend that might sport a brown thumb instead of a green one! The cost for this class is $25.00 plus tax, and your reservation needs to be made by April 18th.
Cement Head Planter
Saturday, June 16, 1:30-3:30
I love whimsy in the garden- the thrill of the unexpected! Learn how to fill your garden with sculptures all your own that reflect your creativity. You will learn how to sculpt a face (over a base form) and make it into a plantable “pot”. When it is cured (at home) you can plant it up with some horticultural “hair” to complete your whimsical design. The cost for this class is 45.00 plus tax and includes all materials and instruction. Please reserve your space with our cashiers by June 13.
Cement Leaf Class
Saturday, July 28 (1:30-3:30 pm)
Back by popular demand! The joy of art in the garden made by YOU-the resident artist!
We use real large leaves and put cement directly onto the leaf, then peel it off the leaf to reveal the botanical beauty beneath. Once these leaves cure you can paint them (at home) or leave them natural. The cost for this class is $45.00 plus tax and includes all instruction and materials. Please reserve your space by July 25th with our ALN cashiers.
Saturday, August 18 (1:30-3:30pm)
Another popular class revisited by request. Ruth brings back this favorite- our wet felted “bowl” made from colorful dyed raw wool. It’s a little bit of a workout, but very much worth it when you see the darling results that started out as little wisps of wool a little while ago. The cost for this class is $30.00 plus tax and includes all instructions and materials. Please reserve your space by Aug. 15th.
Saturday, October 20th (1:30-3pm)
Transition thru Fall with this adorable yet classy grapevine wreath graced with a bounty of fall leaves and botanicals, seasonal ribbons and one natural looking owl peeking out of the foliage.
Fun and easy, all materials included, and you will be using a glue gun. Approx. 12-14” when all is done. The cost for the class is $45.00 plus tax. Please reserve your space by Oct.17th with our Alden Lane Cashiers. Come in and see our sample on display in September.
Saturday, November 3 (1:30-3:30 pm)
A colorful raw wool wispy scarf that gives you warmth without the bulk. This process uses “wet” felting to bind the wool together to make “felt”. Caution- you may get a little damp (but it is all part of the fun)! Just in time for gift giving (if you can bear to give it up, that is)! Another unique creation made by you. The sample will be in the garden store in October. Scarf class is $30.00 plus tax, and includes all materials and instruction. Please reserve your space by Oct.31st.
Saturday, Dec. 8th (1:30-3:30)
This time we are doing the joyful art of needle felting, creating a jolly little figure
by punching a special unthreaded needle into raw wool to form a shape and “bind” the wool into felt. Very satisfying- and FUN to boot! Don’t miss it. The cost of this class is $30.00 and includes all materials and instruction. Please reserve your space by Dec. 5th
